ELLIOTT OUT WITH FOOD POISONING AS MCCONNELL STEPS UP TO PARTNER MOSSEY AT OULTON

OMG Racing’s Billy McConnell will again stand in this weekend to ride the OMG Superbike after Josh Elliott was advised against riding this weekend due to a bout of food poisoning. Billy will ride alongside the returning Luke Mossey, who gets back on the track following a high-speed crash during the Bennetts British Superbike official test at Cadwell Park.

Josh was taken unwell on Wednesday evening and was suffering from dehydration when he was brought to a local GP on Thursday morning. Whilst the illness shouldn’t prove serious enough to keep him out long-term, he and the team were advised against him competing this weekend and told instead to focus preparations on the next round.

Jossi was understandably frustrated to not be riding this weekend, but has shifted his attention to making sure he’s in the best possible shape for Assen;

Josh Elliott #10 – OMG Racing – British Superbike

“Gutted that I can’t be riding this weekend, but because of the dehydration I’ve been advised to rest up and not risk it. Obviously I would love to be out there, but I trust Billy will treat the bike right and in the meantime I can focus on making sure I’m ready for Assen. Thanks to my team for putting in a shift as always and to the whole OMG Family for all your support. See you in the Netherlands!”

Paul Curran – OMG Racing – Team Principal

“It’s a shame to hear that Josh won’t be able to ride this weekend, but as with Luke at Cadwell and Billy earlier this season, we want to make sure our riders are 100 percent fit before we go racing. There’s not a huge amount to change as both Josh and Billy use the K-Tech suspension, so we’ll livery up the bike panels and see how he finds it – his recent outing on the Superbike at Cadwell should help him get up to speed quickly, despite other riders having raced the Superbike already here this season. Best wishes to Josh and hopefully he recovers quickly so that we’ll see him in action at the next round.”

Alan Gardner – OMG Racing – Founder

“On behalf of the team, we’re crossing our fingers that Josh recovers quickly and is ready to get back on his bike at Assen. Again, luckily we have Billy who’s able to step in, though at this rate I think he’s going to be wanting his own Superbike! We’ve not had the best of luck this year with injuries and this just compounds it, as at some point all our boys have been unable to ride – but the health of our riders is of paramount importance and so in these instances, it’s best to follow the advice of the medical team.”

The whole team wish Josh a speedy recovery and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in action at the next round in Assen.

OMG take on a triple-header this weekend as we return to Oulton Park for another high-octane round of Bennetts British Superbike action!
