OMG Racing are delighted to welcome long-standing Bennetts British Superbike and MotoGP alumni James Ellison to stand in for Josh Elliott at Round 10 as the British Superbike Championship rolls into Assen. Ellison joins a three strong rider line-up, with Luke Mossey being joined by the hopefully fit Billy McConnell
James tested the GSX-R1000R at a Powerslide Motorcycles track day back in July and met the team out there, who were at the time helping Billy McConnell back to bike fitness following his stomach injury which ruled him out for several rounds this season.
OMG are dedicated to working together as a team to deliver the best results they can for the remaining three rounds of the season. The team continue to work together with Josh, who remains contracted to the team and are focused on moving forward, to try and find his confidence in the bike set-up after some tough rounds for the Silverstone race-winner.
James Ellison #77 – Bennetts British Superbike Championship
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to ride the OMG GSX-R1000R at Assen, Paul and the team are great guys and we’ve met a few times this year through our connection to Powerslide Motorcycles. I know the bike is competitive and had the opportunity to ride a stock bike GSX-R at Donington track day, so I should settle quickly and hopefully we can have two good races this weekend.”
Paul Curran – Team Principal, OMG Racing
“Big thanks to James for standing in for us on short notice, he’s a great rider with heaps of experience in the British Superbike Championship and after working with him a couple of times this season through Powerslide Motorcycles. The opportunity arose between Oulton and now after we’d had a conversation with Josh to see what we can do to come up with a solution for the end of the season. We’re now having conversations with him around how we can help him to feel comfortable on the bike again.
James is a great rider and we look forward to seeing how he does on the bike at Assen”
