OMG switch to BMW power for 2020

OMG Racing will begin their 2020 Bennetts British Superbike campaign with a new manufacturer on board, as they move across to use the BMW S1000RR after 2 years with Suzuki.

OMG have already announced one member of the team’s 2020 line-up, with Luke Mossey remaining with the team for the upcoming campaign after a consistent point-scoring first year with the team.

Since joining the Bennetts British Superbike Championship in 2018, relative newcomers OMG Racing have continually exceeded expectations. In 2019 alone the team has achieved their first BSB win in just a year after joining the series, their first pole position in the National Superstock 1000 championship, and experienced rider Luke Mossey still leads the way for Suzuki riders in the British Superbike standings.

Team Principal Paul Curran thinks that the new RR, which made its BSB debut in 2018, has shown great potential to develop for 2020;

We know that the bikes have a lot of potential because the current BMW’s still are using the stock engine and they’re still able to run at the front. As the package develops it’s only going to get stronger and it’s looking like a good bike.”

“We’re looking to take the team to the next level where we want to be, which is fighting for podiums week in week out and definitely in the showdown. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to work any closer with Suzuki to further develop the bike. With the BMW’s we’re able to purchase the parts that we need the same as any other BMW team and all the parts are available and the RR’s are an exciting project to get started on.

I’d like to say a big thanks to Brad Clarke and the team at Powerslide Motorcycles for all their support with the GSX-R1000R and I’m sure we’ll continue that relationship in some form, they’ve been fantastic with us throughout our time on Suzuki’s. Now it’s time for a new challenge for OMG.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to ride the BMW S1000RR, it has looked really competitive this season and with a full year of development behind it, I’m sure we can have a good run at a Showdown spot in 2020.  It’s a new bike for me, but we’ll get some winter testing done on the bike and I’m sure I’ll make the transition as quickly as I settled on the Suzuki this year.”

Alan Gardner – OMG Racing Founder

“It’s going to be another exciting season for the team as we move onto BMW’s for the 2020 season. We’re focused on finishing 2019 with a flourish for the moment, then once we’re wrapped up at Brands we’ll turn our attentions to the BMW and what will be another competitive year in 2020 where we can surprise a few people again.

With a British Superbike win under our belts already, we’re hungry for more – OMG and BMW will be a powerful pairing, after all, 3 letters are all you need for us both!

Everyone at OMG would like to again, thank Brad and everyone at Powerslide Motorcycles – who have given us great support throughout our time running the Suzuki GSX-R and we look forward to working with them in future on other projects. We believe they’re the best in the business when it comes to Suzuki’s!

OMG’s 2019 British Superbikes will be up for sale at the end of the season, so you can own your own slice of OMG history! For any enquiries please contact Paul and Hollie at PCR Performance.
